Sun, sea, wine and Cyprus good vibes

The 11th edition of the Cyprus Wine Fair Exhibit will open its doors to welcome winelovers and trade professionals at Nissi Beach on the 6th of April 2024. It is always an opportunity of renewal, the precious moment to strengthen bonds enhanced by a culture of wine – especially poignant at a moment of extreme gravity from the conflict neighboring our shores.

Hosted by the Famagusta ‘Bacchus’ Wine Club, it is testimonial not only as a commitment to the wines and wineries of Cyprus, but also an engagement towards developing appreciation for Cyprus Wines in the eastern coast region of Ammochostos.

An expected 34 reknown wineries of Cyprus will be present as the well the representative authorities in the person of the new Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment Dr. Maria Panagiotou. The Cyprus wine exhibition is a unique occasion for an extended wine tasting evening that celebrates more than Spring.

It is a chance to get up close, meet and taste new vintages while knowing a little bit more about the island’s winemaking culture and traditions. Each spring season is an opportunity to present consolidated novelties with an opportunity to have in-person contact.

Here is a small sample of wineries and winemaking in transition.

You may want to inquire about the winemaking at Solia Winery now headed by the talented Santiago Polo. There may be a blend of the young red Solia made from Lefkada, Alicante and Carignan grapes that may seduce you, surely there’s bound to be a interesting story behind winemaking at the Monastery of St. Seraphim in Skouriotissa, capable of blending varied grapes to produce with intensity and lively ripe tannins thant will convince you.

From the Marathasa winery, it’s won’t be just the winery that reaches for high elevation but also its wines. Especially relevant is the attractive Amarantos Yiannoudi vintage – let’s hope 2022 is as spectacular as IWSC 95 pts for 2021 – “Elegant and intense, this has layers that will evolve the herbal and savoury complexity. Fresh dark bramble fruit and cherries have notes of violet and black pepper with plentiful ripe tannins supporting high concentration, a velvety texture and a fresh palate.”

As it is with Spring, Oenou Yi – Ktima Vassiliades can’t miss the occasion for renewal, descreetly working on visual identity and introducing news wines. Vasilissa – Regina is part of a trio of new labels, white dry wines, keeping with tradition to sustain cultivation in Omodos. For a local vineyard grown at an altitude of 1100 meters, and Vasilissa fragrant grape will most likely be a winning hand as may attest the Wine Wander Notes.

Experiencing wine with elegance is at the heart of The ‘Anama Concept, you’ll get the chance to congratulate Kristina and Lefteris for their achievement recognized as one of Luxury Lifestyle Awards’ Top 100 Premium Wine and Spirits Brands of 2023.

Uniting tradition and modern craftsmanship, there is on offer now not only immersive setting of their Boutique Winery, but sumptous new line of wines and spirits
