Doing the math with Cyprus wine on #Piday
That’s for Promara. There isn’t a long list of grapes that can stand as testimonial as to the where and how, almost extinct grapes, can be traced to have marked a new path for Cyprus winemakers in tackling fine wine on the island and the future for endemic grapes.
Fortunately the history is short – 6 years separates these #Piday dates and let’s not just look at the market now with the 2017 Promara vintages, but take Promara as a grape variety that changed a winery, that changed how white wines would be released to the market, that changed the look towards vineyards and lost grapes, and the grapes that has made a proven case for patience, value and heritage. The same patience and vision it took Vouni Panayia Winery to aim for an age-old family aspiration.
